For years, my wife and I griped and groused about our inconsiderate neighbors. They were always tossing trash into our yard and throwing loud parties that extended into the wee hours of the morning. Our frustration became so intense that we even considered selling our house and moving elsewhere, but pride kept us rooted in our beleaguered property, unwilling to cede any territory. Eventually, inspiration struck: I'd build a bigger, better fence. Maybe their trash would stay in their yard. After I completed that project, I decided to install double-paned windows one our home to block the sound from their parties. These small changes made our neighbors far more bearable and helped restore our sanity. In this blog, I want to help other people achieve these same results and spread the word that better fences really do make better neighbors—and thicker windows don't hurt, either.
